Alfie is a Pit Bull Mix!
The typical mixed-breed dog weighs around 40-60 pounds at full growth. A lot depends on the size and structure of the ancestors of your particular dog. Mixes of small dogs should result in smaller dogs, and mixes of larger dogs should result in larger offspring. It should be remembered that all "full-bred" dogs were once mixes of other breeds.
The Pit Bull's love of a good game is exceeded only by its' need for human companionship! They are usually very good with children and, in England, are known as "Nanny Dogs" for their willingness to assume the job of nursemaid!
The Staffordshire Terrier is sometimes known as the "Pit Bull" because of its history of being used for bull baiting and dog fighting. Because it was important that the dogs be docile and easily handled - even during a fight, most of these animals have a sweet, trustworthy disposition around their owners.
This strong, agile dog is intelligent and "creative", often stubborn, and may be defensive around other dogs. They need daily mental and physical exercise to prevent them from thinking of mischief!
We are pleased to welcome Alfie to our practice!
